STC and UTPA Are Most Affordable Four-Year Colleges in the USA

South Texas College sent over this great news from a CNN Money report. Tuition may be on the rise in Texas but it's worth highlighting that our very own South Texas College and University of Texas Pan American (both my alma maters) are the most affordable four-year colleges in the country. STC has some really amazing opportunities for our students.  Their Early College program allows high school seniors to graduate with an associate's degree on top of their high school diploma.

This helps the cost of college and speeds up the process to earning a bachelor's degree.  Not to mention, the kids in the program get a bit of insight into what college is actually like.  I wish the program had been around when I was in high school.

From the article:

When you decide to take a trip, what is one of the first things you do? Look at hotels, airlines and restaurants to see which one gives you the best bang for your buck. In this economy Americans are on a budget. They are looking for quality paired with affordability, and the number of dollar signs next to a vendor gives you a pretty good indication of what you will get and the money you will spend to get it. Well why wouldn’t you take research about your college education just as seriously? The U.S. Department of Education thinks you should and that’s why it launched a new tool called the College Affordability and Transparency Center, which provides information about colleges and universities based on costs. And as published by, South Texas College ranks right at number one on the list of the most affordable in the nation, beating out all other U.S. colleges and universities which offer undergraduate degrees and have an enrollment of 5,000 students or more.
