McAllen to Launch "Bag It" Campaign

Beginning March 5, McAllen Public Works will implement a new brush collection schedule and a new ordinance banning the use of plastic lawn bags for leaves and grass clippings. Under the new ordinance, residents will be required to place yard clippings in a compostable bag.

Ahead of the change, Public Works will deliver 4 compostable bags to every household. After the first initial delivery, the compostable bags will be made available to residents at the Recycling Center, City Hall and designated locations at no additional costs to residents.
