San Antonio Gridiron 2015

I had the pleasure of joining this year's cast for the San Antonio Gridiron Show!

The Gridiron show is a locally written, performed and produced theatrical production that satirizes politics and local news events of the past year. It includes skits and musical numbers that poke fun at San Antonio politicians and events. The show includes the presentation of the Most-Panned Award to the local newsmaker who has received the most negative media attention in the past year.

My dear friend and colleague Lisa Marie Barocas invited me to join the cast this year.  I dusted off my dancing shoes and was so excited to play characters such as a lonely Blue Bell Ice Cream Sales Girl, a drunk girl trying to catch a ride from VIA or Uber or anything really, the fabulous Judge Judy Garland, a fracktivist (which is hilarious considering my beliefs on fracking), an anti gun protestor (again, hilarious considering my beliefs on guns) and a dancer in Faux Mayor Ivy Taylor's clique.  Pretty fun!

Even better, our skit on Downtown's Transportation woes was awarded Best Skit of the night!  And I was honored to receive the Best Actress Award.  You like me, you really, really like me!

This was so much fun and all for a great cause, scholarships for journalism and communications students.  I can't wait for next year's production!

Here are some photos from the show:

Maddy Skye from the San Antonio Express-News and Brian Chasnoff from the San Antonio Express-News play our carriage ride.  Here I am with Veronica Gallegos of Telemundo!

Veronica Gallegos and I play two drunk girls downtown trying to catch a Primo bus played by Tyler White of the San Antonio Express-News.

I play Brittney the Blue Bell Sales Rep!  Here are Danny Hermosillo, Lisa Marie Barocas, Jamie Stockwell and John Anthony Salazar.

The Leticia Van De Putte vs. Ivy Taylor dance off sketch.  Pictured are Laura Jesse, Veronica Gallegos, Nora Lopez, Tyler White, Ashlei King, Joey Palacios, me (the redhead!) and Lisa Marie Barocas.

Behind the scenes with Lisa Marie Barocas, Michael Quintanilla, Lorraine Pulido, Iris Dimmick and Scott Huddleston.
